The controversial South Sudan Civil Society Alliance that recently disowned Deng Athuai Mawiir as their chairperson on Friday elected new leader and committee members to operate for six months.
The new leader Akuoch Ajang Nyanhom told journalists in Juba that the Alliance is neutral; working for local civil interests, Radio Bakhita reported.
He added that the Civil Society Alliance protects the constitution of the country.
External Relations Secretary Vitale Aligo Samson said the committee would only focus on citizens’ needs.
The Alliance announced forming a taskforce to monitor further organization.
The allegedly dismissed chairperson Deng Athuai Mawiir earlier on told CRN that he does not recognize his dismissal, terming Ajang’s alliance as pure SPLM members, not civil society.
