Two Dan Church Aid or DCA Humanitarian Mine Action Risk Education teams funded by the Common Humanitarian Fund or CHF delivered necessary Mine Risk Education to returnees in Bor.
A statement CRN obtained said the Mine Risk Education delivery followed a rapid needs assessment identifying immediate mines’ awareness.
It added that the Education enables the local population to identify dangerous items and make safe decisions such as not to touch them, warning others and reporting dangerous items for clearance by relevant authorities.
Bor men were fond of moving Explosive Remnants of War they found near their tukuls and taking them to more remote locations.
Bor women are exposed to dangerous explosives when collecting firewood, especially 20 kilometres south of Bor where fighting was extremely heavy.
The agencies removed and destroyed some Explosive Ordnance including mortars, projectiles, rockets, grenades and small arms ammunition of various sizes.
