Yei protests against barbaric murder of former Mayoress

Civil society organizations in Yei River County on Tuesday organized a protest against the barbaric killing of former Yei Mayoress, her officer manager and other citizens dying in cold blood.
 
The organizations presented a petition to the Municipality, Catholic, Episcopal Churches, calling for strong condemnation of the brutal murder, declaration of prayer days and liaison with state government in investigating the crime, Radio Easter reported.
 
The demonstrators also called for peace, urging both the SPLA and the police forces to strengthen security patrols to protect citizens especially during Christmas.
 
Addressing the demonstrators, Deputy Mayor Silvano Ali Sanguson called for arrest and justice to the murderers, adding that the blood of the deceased would continue searching the killers till they are revealed.
 
Yei Catholic Diocese Secretary General Fr Emmanuel Lodongo Sebit at Christ the King Cathedral told the protesters and Christians in general to pray for the souls of the deceased to rest in eternal peace.
 
He lamented that such sudden and barbaric death pains the living brothers and sisters.
 
The protestors carried banners written: ‘She was a role model, a woman is a mother of all profession, God is the witness, God is watching, respect our rights, why kill a woman, SPLA and police must protect South Sudanese among others’.
