Sudan Catholic Bishops Conference or SCBC annual plenary assembly is starting on Wednesday in Juba and expected to conclude on November 14.

SCBC Secretary General Fr Jacob Odwa Paul said the ten-day plenary will start with a mass presided over by the Vice President of the Conference Bishop Erkulano Lodu Tombe of Yei Catholic Diocese.

He said the President of SCBC Cardinal Zubeir Wako is expected to join the plenary towards the end, adding that they are also expecting the Apostolic Nuncios of South Sudan and Sudan to attend the assembly.

Fr Odwa said the SCBC will discuss issues concerning the naming of the conference in the two countries to accommodate both of them.

The Secretary-General said the plenary is also expected to centre on the ongoing formation of priests, evangelization and the media as the tool of evangelization.

He called on Christians and people of goodwill to pray for the success of the ten-day Catholic Bishops plenary to have positive impact in South Sudan and Sudan societies.
