Wau Municipal Council in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce confiscated ten tons of expired and tainted food items on Friday.

Mayor Arkangelo Anyar Anyar told the press on Friday that they collected 200 sacks of tainted flour and more than three tons of expired food items, Voice of Hope reported.

He said the confiscation was a result of three-month inspection by the joint committees from Wau Health department and Standard and Metrology Bureau.

Mr Anyar described the process as successful by preventing the huge amount of expired items to reach citizens, pointing out that they would take legal measures against owners of the expired goods.

In August this year, Wau authority confiscated 104 sacks of sugar and CID arrested a trader with 800 sacks of tainted rice in Wau Town.
