A Catholic priest working for Solidarity with South Sudan appealed to political leaders and citizens to seek God’s forgiveness and start to build a new road to peace, without revenge.
Fr Michael Bassano called on South Sudanese to learn to forgive one another to end the suffering of citizens.
The priest described the situation he saw in Malakal as fragile and tense and that people live in fear.
Fr Bassano warned that if the situation does not change, people would continue experiencing food shortage because they are unable to cultivate due to the ongoing fighting.
The priest called on the conflicting parties to feel the pain of their people, put aside their personal interests and stop the war.
