Budi Community petitioned Eastern Equatoria Governor demanding the removal of their County commissioner from office over insecurity.
State Press Director Joseph Oriho Abulemoi told Journalists on Wednesday that the Budi saga was a central issue during a meeting in Juba and that Governor Louis Lobong Lojore promised to respond to the plight of Budi people after restoring peace, Emmanuel Radio reported.
He said the community in the petition, blamed the Commissioner for inflaming violence, leading to killings, arrests of people and tension in Chukudum town.
Mr Abulemoi traces the origin of the clashes in Chukudum to an incident in July, saying it sparked from foiled cattle raid by a group of youth from Budi County.
He added that the youth turned wild after their plot was intercepted by the community in Ikwoto County, who laid ambush, killing one of the raiders and injured another.
The Director believes the foiled raid angered the youth who turned their guns against people they suspected leaked their plots.
Mr Abulemoi said Eastern Equatoria Governor Lobong would visit Chukudum to calm the situation and give people assurance of security.
Budi violence that pities the civil population against armed forces claimed lives of several victims, including a primary school head teacher, Abraham Jiot.
Causalities and houses burnt in the recent spate of violence in the area on Monday remain unclear.
