Wau town of Western Bahr El Ghazal state on Saturday received 2,301 Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs from Mayom and Bentiu in Unity state following the recent opposition forces’ attacks in the area.
Wau Deputy Mayor Anthony Charles Mberende told Voice of Hope that they received 617 households with women and children majority, saying it is the largest number the state ever received since the crisis started in December.
The Mayor appealed to humanitarian agencies to support the IDPs who are facing ‘horrible situation’ with food, shelter, water and medical services.
Mr Charles said they resettle IDPs at Abunybuny area at the eastern bank.
