At least two staff from the Mother of Mercy Hospital in Nuba Mountains were sent to study anaesthetics in Kenya.

Issac Kodo and Lagume who formerly worked in the theatre are future anaesthetic officers of the Catholic Mission Hospital in Heiban County.

The Hospital Matron Sister Angelina Nyakuron said they sponsored 18 candidates for nursing course, one clinical officer and one to study medicine, adding that the hospital plans to send two staff for midwife course, two for medicine, two lab technicians and a number of nurses.

She complained that the sponsorships were expensive as travel charges is 2,000 per person and students depend fully on the hospital both feeding and accommodations.

The Matron expressed determination to continue with the sponsorship program despite challenges, noting that the hospital aims to have qualified people to provide services to the community.
