A traffic Police urged road pedestrians, bicycle riders, motor circle and drivers to know the road safety rules to avoid accidents.

Viola Gaba spoke following an accident which occurred on Thursday between a motor circle and bicycle at Kinji Primary School road junction in Yei town, leaving one rider injured on both hands and bicycle dismantled that would cost an estimated 200 South Sudanese Pounds to repair, Easter Radio reported.

She said over speeding and lack of knowledge to road safety rules were major causes of accidents, accusing the bicycle rider for crossing the road without observing the rules.

The traffic police officer described it as a sad incident that would have not occurred if they followed the rules.

She proposed to Kinji Primary School administrations to write letters of establishing bumps to reduce over speeding as pupils are always at risk because many accidents occurred at the junction leaving others either paralyzed, injured or dead.

The traffic police officer urged pedestrians to observe the road safety rules by having clear view of the road before crossing, appealing to riders and drivers to slow down speed to avoid accidents.
