Loa Catholic Parish marks Assumption feast

Thousands of Christians turned up on Friday at Loa Catholic Parish to commemorate the feast of Assumption of Mother Mary to which the Parish is dedicated, coinciding with the Golden Jubilee celebration of Torit Catholic Emeritus Bishop Paride Taban.
 
Assumption parish priest Joseph Otto said Mary fulfilled the plan of God by becoming the mother of Jesus Christ, Emmanuel Radio reported.
 
Fr Otto explained that Mary became the mother of the Apostles and the Church, saying Assumption means celebrating successes of Mary who was lifted into heaven without her body corrupted on earth.
 
The celebration brought together, Bishops Erkulano Lodu Tombe of Yei Diocese, Paul Yugusuk of Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan, Sabino of Arua Catholic Diocese.
 
Eastern Equatoria Deputy Governor Jerome Surur Gama, Health minister Margaret, Itto, Gender and Social Development minister, Paska Hifita also attended the ceremony.
 
Torit Apostolic Administrator Monsignor Thomas Oliha on Thursday confirmed 190 Christians.
