The headmaster of Saints Peter and Paul Primary School of El Obeid Catholic Diocese in Nuba Mountains alerted pupils and community of measles outbreak in Kauda and Karaga.

Joseph Doud told Voice of Peace on Thursday that the disease killed six children resulting to temporary closure of Diocesan schools in Kadaga.

The headmaster advised pupils not to go to the hospital or associate with infected children to avoid infection.

Mr Doud confirmed that no child was infected with the measles in his school, but they are afraid because the school is near the hospital.

Nurses in the Mother of Mercy Hospital advised the public to immediately report suspected cases of measles to medical personnel in the facility.

They added that healthy people should not associate with the infected ones because measles is one of the contagious diseases.
