AMECEA advocates for peaceful resolution to South Sudan, Sudan conflicts

Torit Apostolic Administrator said the Association of Members of Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa or AMECEA Bishops deplored the suffering of people in South Sudan, Sudan and Somalia and advocate for peaceful resolution to conflict affected countries.
 
Monsignor Thomas Oliha who was presiding over English mass at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Torit on Sunday said AMECEA region was saddened by the crisis in the there countries, Emmanuel Radio reported.
 
He said the 18th AMECEA plenary promised to work for lasting peace in South Sudan, Sudan, Somalia and other African countries.
 
Monsignor Oliha said the Bishops in their Communiqué asked Catholic faithful and people of goodwill to remember Sudan, South Sudan and Somalia in their prayers.
 
He added that AMCEA Bishops appealed to all people in the affected countries to embrace peace, seek reconciliation and work towards nation building.
 
Torit Apostolic Administrator explained that the Catholic Bishops also expressed concern with the lives of the people terrorized by the prospect of a drastic depopulation in Eritrea.
 
The 18th AMECEA plenary under the theme ‘New Evangelization through true conversion and witness to Christian faith ran from July 16th-26th in Lilongwe, Malawi.
