The UN Food and Agriculture Organization or FAO on Thursday donated twenty motorcycles to Lakes State Directorate of Animal Resources and Fisheries for implementing Agriculture and Food Information System and Agro-Pastoralists Community Resilient projects.
FAO State Coordinator James Taban called for joint efforts of the government, community and partners to realize the goal of food security in South Sudan, Good News Radio reported.
He told the officers to use the machines responsibly during the four-year project implementation period.
Lakes Animal Resources and Fisheries Deputy Director-General Paul Maker appreciated FAO’s donation, expressing confidence that officers would work hand in hand with the community to implement the projects.
He revealed that the agro-pastoralist project would be implemented in Rumbek North, Rumbek East and Cueibet Counties
Before the donation, FAO trained 20 staff from the Ministry of Agriculture for two months in Uganda as part of the project implementation.
