Institute for Security Studies or ISS said SPLM/A in opposition and South Sudan government claims to be committed to peaceful resolution of conflict is a game of gaining an advantage.

In a publication on Thursday described opposition objections of inclusion of civil society organisations in the peace process and earlier government objection of former SPLM detainees’ participation in the process as troubling IGAD efforts.

The Institute observed that IGAD mediators already perceived inclusivity as ‘a natural and logical idea.’

The publication indicated that IGAD mediation team studied that inclusivity originated from the fact that the crisis was a dispute within SPLM party and grew to a national issue affecting a number of stakeholders.

IGAD organised a multi-stakeholder symposium in Addis Ababa on June 6 and 7, concluding that peace must prevail and that guns must be silenced.

SPLM/A in Opposition used the failure of civil society organisations in talks to object their participation in the process while the government boycotted the opening of June 22 round of talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
