United States or US Envoy to South Sudan and Sudan told journalists on Wednesday in Juba that he is expecting serious negotiations and willingness by both parties in a week’s time in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Ambassador Donald Booth called on the negotiating team to sit in a round table to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement.
He said it was important for the warring parties to focus on real issues affecting South Sudan to reconcile people, achieve justice and reform the security sector.
Ambassador Booth said Americans are in solidarity with South Sudanese in the ongoing crisis, calling on political leaders to understand the severe humanitarian complications.
