Central Equatoria Assembly opens fifth session

Central Equatoria State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday opened the fifth session after six months’ recess from December, 2013.
 
Speaker Naphtali Hassan said the assembly was able to elect deputy speaker, appointed specialized committees for land and natural resources and environment chairperson, passed two bills and a number of resolutions and recommendations on early marriages and defilement, Bakhita Radio reported.
 
He disclosed that the assembly focused on better performance with increased commitment on rules of procedures.
 
Speaker Hassan complained that budget delay was a major problem affecting activities of the parliament.
 
Governor Clement Wani Konga assured parliamentarians that the budget for the fiscal year 2014/2015 would soon be tabled for deliberation.
 
He urged legislators to reflect on legislation, deliberation and enactment of various pending bills.
 
Governor Wani said his government spent two and a half million US Dollars to purchase seven heavy road construction equipments.
