At least four hundred Catholic Bishops priests, sisters and laity are expected to participate in the 18th plenary of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa or AMECEA in Lilongwe, Malawi scheduled to start on Tuesday.
Sudan Catholic Bishop’s Conference or SCBC Secretary-General Fr Jacob Odwa told CRN that Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako will on Tuesday lead fourteen-member delegation comprising of Catholic Bishops priests, sisters and laity from South Sudan and Sudan.
He said ‘a very colourful and enriching’ plenary between July 15 and 27 is expected to discuss unity in the church and the family, youths, priestly formation and new evangelization.
Fr Odwa said they would get and later disseminate the same information to all Christian communities in South Sudan and Sudan.
The Secretary-General, who left Juba on Monday afternoon for Lilongwe, Malawi said the meeting has so much concern for the church in the region.
He called on all people in South Sudan and Sudan to live together as brothers and sisters.
The 18th Plenary of AMECEA in Lilongwe, Malawi is under the theme: ‘New evangelization through true conversion and witness to Christian faith’.
