A German development agency, GIZ on Friday donated to the African Medical Relief Foundation or AMREF six hundred Euros with France agencies, Total and Sanofi donating five hundred thousand US dollars equivalent to one point six million South Sudanese Pounds.
AMREF Country Director George Bhoka told the press during the launch of the ‘Emergency clinical and surgical outreach in conflict affected states’ project that they support maternal and child health and communicable diseases control programmes, Bakhita Radio reported.
He added that they also support communities and the government to increase access to clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene and increase access to clinical, medical and diagnostic services.
Total Exploration Manager Antonin Fotso expressed their commitment to support humanitarian work to compliment efforts of the government to alleviate suffering of South Sudanese.
France Ambassador to South Sudan Christian Bader called for an end to gunshot-wounds because there are so many diseases in the country to treat.
National Health Ministry Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services Janet Michael said since last year, 3,000 people were wounded either in the frontline or caught up in crossfire and many lost their lives.
