World Vision International on Friday handed over two fishponds to 15 members of Akorogbodi Fish Farming Association in Yambio, Western Equatoria.

The Association representative Livia Oliver thanked the World Vision for funding and constructing the ponds for raring fish since 2010, Anisa Radio reported.

She cited lack of trainings, necessary equipments, fencing and money to open more ponds as their challenges in the future.

World Vision Representative Admire Nyathi appreciated the government, World Food Program and Akorogbodi community for their commitments and cooperation towards the success of the ponds.

He stressed that it was easy to rare fish like any other domestic animals.

Mr Nyathi said the World Vision expects Akorogbodi members to teach other communities and build more fishponds together.

State Agriculture Minister West Yugule urged Akorogbodi community to take full responsibility of the ponds and supply Yambio with more fish as there is high demand for protein in the state.

He promised to assist farmers to produce food or rare animals and fish.
