Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO is training 30 representatives of civil societies, faith-based organizations and government officials on United Nations Security Council resolutions in Yei River County.
CEPO Executive Director Edmond Yakani told the press on Thursday that the training was to equip participants on Resolutions 1325 on peace, security and women and 1820 targeting gender-based violence and sexual abuse to hold perpetrators accountable, Easter Radio reported.
He said the workshop funded by the Global Network for Women Peace Builders will cover the whole country with Yei as a pilot for starting.
Global Network of the Women for Peace Builders International Coordinator Mavic Caberera-Balleza said there are seven UN Resolutions on women, peace and security equivalent to international laws tasking governments to implement.
She added that they are conducting the workshops to push governments to honour their commitments.
Eve Organization for Women Development Executive Director Rita Martin said through the Network, women voices would be heard at the international level.
She said it was important to know how much the people in South Sudan understand and participate in the ongoing peace process in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The two-day training which started on Thursday is expected to conclude on Friday.
