Western Bahr El-Ghazal State Assembly Education Committee Chairperson criticised State Council of Ministers’ decision of dismissing teachers instead of building their capacity.
Natalina Idris Jano said the decision would hinder learning in schools, arguing that most teachers worked for many years to deserve pensions and better treatment instead of humiliation, Voice of Hope reported.
She added that the timing of the dismissal was wrong since pension fund was not yet established in the country.
MP Idris advocates for teachers reinstatement and recruitment.
The legislator appealed for teachers’ capacity building through technical training as opposed to dismissal for lack of qualifications.
Teachers on Thursday morning gathered at State Education Ministry premises to devise next move after dismissal.
