Guinea worm campaign kickoff in Tonj South

Tonj South County in Warrap State on Wednesday started guinea worm campaign training for Payams and Bomas supervisors to fight the disease.
 
County Health Supervisor Daniel Deng Ater said a patient who reported guinea worm case to health facility gets 100 South Sudan Pounds and the one who reported him/her self get 500 South Sudan Pounds for treatment, Don Bosco Radio reported. 
 
Mr Deng said they have water filters to be distributed to the entire community for filtering water, advising the public to stop drinking stagnant water. 
 
The Health Supervisor said they started training Payams and Bomas Supervisors to go and train village volunteers. 
 
He said they distributed bicycles to Payams and Bomas Supervisors to start on Monday.
 
County Health Officer Charles Malual Anei explained that they introduced guinea cash reward for people to report cases of guinea worm to the health facilities.
 
He urged the entire community of Greater Tonj to report the disease to the health facilities and get money.
