Community Empowerment for Progress Organization, CEPO and National Platform for Peace and Reconciliation took to Juba streets on Saturday, demonstrating walk to peace campaign.
CEPO Executive Director Edmond Yakani said they are not celebrating or siding with any political move, but sending ‘stop the war’ messages to warring leaders in the country, Bakhita Radio reported.
South Sudan Peace and Reconciliation Commission Deputy Chairperson Peter Gwang Akich said citizens should not expect smoothness in life even after two decades of war for freedom.
He added that God answered the prayer for Cessation of Hostilities agreement by the warring parties, urging for stoppage of war and coming together for dialogue.
A Juba Day student Pabu Puru Joseph disclosed that many of her colleagues died in the conflict.
She urged the government to work hard to make sure peace prevails in the nation.
The walk to peace campaign was supposed to take place on June 9, but failed due to heavy rainfall.
