Oxfam urges conflicting parties to lay down arms

Oxfam South Sudan Country Director urged the conflicting leaders to act swiftly to fulfil their promises by ordering troops to lay down arms immediately.
 
In a statement on Wednesday, Cecilia Millan called on President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Dr Riek Machar to map out plans for a transitional government rapidly and lead the country out of crisis.
 
The Director called on the leaders to honour their commitments and bring peace to the country.
 
Ms Milan lamented that South Sudanese were forced to endure too much suffering in the conflict including hunger and displacement.
