Yei Catholic Bishop who is Caritas South Sudan President on Monday returned from a three-day Caritas Africa meeting in Kampala, Uganda.
Bishop Erkulano Lodu Tombe told Easter Radio on Tuesday that the meeting reviewed the minutes of 2011 meeting in Harare, Zimbabwe on Caritas Africa emergency management respond team.
He said the meeting entitled ‘Caritas Africa humanitarian intervention strategy’ dedicated one day to South Sudan’s humanitarian situation.
Bishop Lodu said the meeting resolved that Caritas South Sudan supported by Caritas international would urgently launch an emergency appeal to respond to the situation in the country.
The Bishop said the meeting also resolved to have two emergency appeals: one for Malakal Catholic Diocese and another for other parts of the country.
Caritas operates in 49 African countries with better services delivery in Benin, Burkina Faso and Democratic Republic of Congo.
