Wau Episcopal Bishop attributed South Sudan’s ongoing conflict to bad governance by leaders at various levels who failed to change from rebel commanders to politicians.
In a diocesan newsletter, Bishop Moses Deng explained that the country is ruled by former rebel generals ranging from the president to state governors and down to the county commissioners.
The newsletter added that all people were forced out of the country only to exist by kindness of other countries as refugees just after voting for their own independence.
The bishop urged leaders to adhere to provisions of agreements they signed in the Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Bishop Deng said the church has a responsibility to help in bringing peace and reconciliation in times of conflict and disagreements.
He said church organisations are praying and working hard to build and bring lasting peace to the country through South Sudan Council of Churches as observers and advisers to the warring parties.
