Yei River County Forest Assistant Commissioner urged citizens to buy and plant trees to beautify and protect the town from destruction by rainstorm.
David Taban Silas told Easter Radio in an exclusive interview marking the World Environmental Day on Thursday that they had a variety of seedlings for farmers at low prices ready for transplantation.
He explained that they have mahogany, teaks and fruits including avocado, guavas and pineapples for transplanting to better livelihood.
The Assistant Commissioner said they are encouraging farmers to cut one and plant five trees.
Mr Taban appealed to the municipal authority to speed up town demarcation to enable citizens to plant fruit trees and flowers to beautify Yei.
The Forestry Commissioner warned citizens against mass tree cutting that could lead to desertification.
