Sudan Council of Churches or SCC on Tuesday issued a statement disapproving the verdict against Mariam Ibrahim which contradicts the international Conventions of Human Rights Sudan signed.
The statement said the verdict was a clear and direct persecution of Christians and Sudanese Churches.
It demanded abolition of the verdict and release of the Mariam Ibrahim, calling on all people to reinforce the pillars of peace and religious coexistence in Sudan.
The statement rejected all that threaten the social fabric and damage the call for dialogue by the President Omer Bashir to foster the spirit of patriotism among all components of Sudanese communities.
The statement called for the review of all laws against Christians to be in consistent with the Constitution and the International Human Rights convention.
