Eastern Equatoria Local Government minister called on counties and town councils to form land committees.
Charles Ambrose Lokonoi on Friday told Local Government officials during the two-day sensitization workshop in Torit that the land committee at County, Town Council, Municipality; Payam and Bomas are responsible to resolve land disputes, Emmanuel Radio reported.
The minister urged Local Government officials to use the knowledge they acquired to organize their areas on land issues.
He advised the officials to be planners and implementers of government policies to benefit citizens.
Magwi County Commissioner Ben Kingston praised the workshop as an eye opener for Local Government officials to organize their work at all levels.
United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS Civil Affairs Desk organized the workshop that brought together Counties, Town and Municipal Council and Local Government officials in Eastern Equatoria.
