Information and Broadcasting Deputy Minister on Saturday announced that the President of the Republic would soon append signature to the long awaited media acts into law possibly within the month of May.
Rachael Nyadak Paul broke the news during World Press Freedom Day at Nyakuron Cultural Centre, saying the acts delayed due to some technical problems, she did not mention.
She said the media acts would change behaviours and attitudes for conduct and accountability in the media arena.
UNESCO Country Representative Salah Khaled said the organization believes the safety of journalists in a society is a symptom of strength of the rule of law and that it is vital for any government to advance media development and freedom.
He revealed action plan on safety of journalists and acts of impunity, calling on UN agencies, other International organizations, governments, media and civil society to combine forces to stop killing of journalists.
Mr Khaled said the safety of journalists is fundamental to play significant role in media development and practices of good governances.
