US Secretary of State visited Juba and met President Salva Kiir, revealing his agreement and willingness to end violence and form a transitional government.
John Kerry told the press in Juba that their meeting with President Salva Kiir tackled all issues for restoring peace in South Sudan.
He told President Kiir to do everything he can within presidential powers to end the violence in the country and begin the process of national dialogue to pave way for transitional government.
Mr Kerry added that President Kiir reaffirmed his commitment to abide by the call for peace.
He told journalists that he already informed the Ethiopian Prime Minister who chairs the IGAD mediation that President Kiir would travel to Addis Ababa to engage in fruitful discussion with SPLM/A in opposition leader Dr Riek Machar.
Mr Kerry said the meeting of Dr Riek Machar and President Salva Kiir is critical as it paves way for the full implementation of Cessation of Hostility to end the conflict.
He added that he would call Dr Machar later on Friday to engage him in talks for ending violence.
John Kerry is the most senior US Administration official to visit South Sudan since it attained independence from Sudan in 2011, only to be marred with political crisis.
