Central Equatoria State Youth, Culture and Sports Minister on Monday ordered stoppage of church construction on Shimba playground giving 72 hours for the concerned persons to take away their building materials or face demolition.
David Moses Lokonga said the church and mosque sites are within the playground and have to be demolished in three days, Bakhita Radio reported.
He said Shimba playground was given to South Sudan Football Association for sports in Juba, but not for construction of church.
The order came after Kator Payam wrote a letter to the church founder Abraham Chol to stop the construction but he insisted.
Mr Lokonga said Central Equatoria State respects religion and even gave Abraham Chol land for building his church on an allocated land.
He urged all citizens to understand and respect the laws of the country.
Abraham Chol was not immediately available for comment.
