The International Committee of Red Cross, ICRC on Thursday Morning reunited eight abductees from South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo at Yambio airstrip with their families.

Western Equatoria State Gender, Child Social Welfare Ministry Acting Director General Justin Ebere said seven children were transferred from Yambio Child transit centre to different destinations including Banda, Bangadi, Sambia and Ngilima , North of DR Congo, Anisa Radio reported.

He added three girls and two boys of about 17 years old were reunited.

Mr Ebere added that they received one boy from Congo who was later reintegrated in Nzara County the place where he was abducted.

He said the children were received in transit centre since December 2013, but the delay happened due to difficulties in tracing the families in Central African Republic, South Sudan and DR Congo.

Mr Ebere added that they also got notice of new arrivals of abductees to be reunited to families soon.

The Acting Director complained about inadequate reintegration support for handling cases of abductees.
