Freed alleged coup plotters who were recently on trial in court said on Friday shortly after release that they would dedicate their time to work for peace, freedom and prosperity in the country.
Pagan Amum Okiech spoke out to the media after months of silence, saying their release would give them chance to work for peaceful, free and prosperous South Sudan, Bakhita Radio reported.
He articulated in his usual political tone that they would engage government and SPLM/A in opposition to stop the ongoing war which he described senseless.
The release of the political detainees including Dr Majak D’Agoot Atem, Oyay Deng Ajak, Ezekiel Lul Gatkuoth and seven others bailed by the Kenyan government follows Thursday’s announcement of freezing the case by Justice Minister Paulino Wanawilla Unago in press conference.
The decision reportedly follows President Kiir’s directives to order the court to free the 11 men he accused of plotting and masterminding an alleged failed attempted coup dismissed by all suspects.
