Juba City Legislative Council Chairperson urged citizens to refrain from harmful practices including smoking cigarette and shisha.
Michael Ladu Allah-Jabu told CRN on Tuesday in a telephone interview that smoking as a harmful practice reduces lifespan especially of children who start smoking at earlier age.
The chairperson lamented on increasing diseases related to smoking including lung cancer and tuberculosis.
Mr Ladu blamed parents for encouraging children to smoke.
He advised parents to send children to school to keep them busy to minimize chances of getting exposed to smoking.
The councilor observed that most smoking children are school dropouts.
Mr Ladu warned parents against irresponsibility in administering children to train them as better adults.
