Government and former rebel David Yau Yau’s South Sudan Democratic Movement Cobra faction postponed the signing of final peace deal due to distances, logistical challenges and Easter Holidays’ celebrations.
Torit Catholic Diocese Emeritus Bishop Paride Taban who is the Chief Mediator told Emmanuel Radio that the signing of the political agreement was postponed because an attempt to meet David Yau Yau on Monday of the previous week failed due to bad weather.
He added that other two bishops in mediation team were engaged in Easter programs.
Bishop Taban said the political Wing of David Yau Yau in the negotiation based in Khartoum could not easily travel for the signing of the political agreement.
Earlier on President Salva Kiir Mayardit, David Yau Yau and the Church mediation team agreed to sign the final peace deal as an Easter gift.
