African Union Commission and UNESCO International Institute for Capacity Building on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding or MOU in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The MOU aimed to promote teacher development, harmonization of policies, contribution to revitalized quality, relevant education systems responsive to African’s needs, aspirations and capacity.
It focuses on building and strengthening capacities of teacher education institutions in Africa and contributes to the design and teacher development, school leadership, management, supervision and support.
The memo allows for a pooling of efforts and resources towards achieving common objectives and strengthening cooperation in education in Africa.
AU Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology Martial De-Paul Ikounga described the MOU as a step towards strengthening partnerships in education in the continent.
UNESCO Education officer Arnaldo Nhavoto expressed their commitment to assist in achieving the goals set out for the success of African education.
