Eastern Equatoria Members of the Parliament demanded post service benefits of former legislators.
State Legislative Assembly Speaker Emmanuel Ambrose Ocholimoi said for the last five years, all the members did not receive their benefits to help them, Gurtong website reported.
He explained that MPs at all levels in the country were supposed to be paid according to their constitutional benefits from 2010 after the general elections.
The Speaker said some states were already paid, but Eastern Equatoria MPs are yet to receive their benefits.
State Governor Louis Lobong Lojore formed a Committee to start following up procedures with the national government payment of the benefits of former MPs.
Public Accounts Finance and Economic Committee Chairperson Dominic Otwari Theodore heads the follow-up committee including Finance Ministry’s Director General Alfred Kayumba, the clerk of the Assembly and two other members.
