Eastern Equatoria planned to start academic year with the ‘Go-to-school’ campaign on the first week of February.

State Education minister Michael Lopuke Lotyam called on education stakeholders to participate in the campaign, telling parents to send their children to school on Monday, Emmanuel Radio reported.

He said the campaign that runs from February 3 to 9 aims at increasing enrolment.

The minister said the month of July does not suit the “Go-to-school” campaign because parents cannot send their children to school in the middle of the year.

Minister Lopuke called on state authorities, faith-based organizations, women, youth groups and civil society organizations to join the campaign.

The minister said there was no reason to extend registration and start of classes late as the conflict in the country did not affect Eastern Equatoria.

He encouraged girls to benefit from the Girls Education in South Sudan project.
