South Sudan Red Cross Society on Thursday reunited two displaced and one abducted Congolese children with their families in Yambio, Western Equatoria State.
The reunited children include a 20-year lady, her son and an abducted five-year old boy, Anisa Radio reported.
International Committee of the Red Cross Field Delegate Ceseza Gandu said the children were separated from their family members during the Lord’s Resistance Army or LRA rebels’ atrocities in the DR Congo.
The Red Cross Society in Yambio in partnership with State Ministry of Child Welfare traced the families of the children in Dungu region of northern part of DR Congo.
The Society flew the children to Congo on Thursday Morning.
Congolese Diplomatic Mission head in South Sudan Elome Dembeleme hailed efforts of Uganda, DR Congo and Central African Republic joint to rescue abducted civilians.
He called on LRA leaders to free small children abducted in the bush to return them home and continue education.
