The International Committee of Red Cross or ICRC nominated two South Sudanese volunteers for Florence Nightingale 2013 Medal Award.
ICRC Public Relations Coordinator Marial Mayom told CRN on phone that it was the first time South Sudan got Florence Nightingale Medal since 1912.
He said the volunteers awarded were from Central Equatoria and Western Bahr El Ghazal States.
Mr Mayom said ICRC gives Florence Nightingale Medal after every two years.
34 volunteers scoped Florence Nightingale 2013 Medal Awards in 17 countries.
