Nagero Commissioner calls for collective fight against HIV

Nagero County Commissioner called on all citizens to fight HIV Aids collectively through prevention of new infections and voluntary blood testing.
 
Joseph Miniala said there should be no more shame, no more blame, no more discrimination and no more stigma in the new era of openness, Anisa Radio reported.
 
He urged citizens to take personal responsibility and work together to deal with the HIV Aids effects in life.
 
Mr Miniala said HIV remained a global challenge with profound social, cultural and economic consequences.
 
He urged parents and heads of households to educate children about HIV and Aids.
 
Mr Miniala announced that every person living with the virus had the right to access anti-retroviral treatment on a regular basis.
 
Nagero Commissioner appealed to husbands and wives to test for HIV Aids together during antenatal care visits.
 
On World Aids Day, he extended his condolences to all families that lost beloved ones to HIV Aids.
