Torit Catholic school bans mobile phones

Torit St Theresa Catholic Primary School banned mobile phone handsets at its premises.
 
Parents and Teachers Association Chairman LimaAlbino Haworu announced the ban to parents and guardians on Saturday, Emmanuel Radio reported.
 
Mr Haworu explained that the move aimed at avoiding disruption of the learning process.
 
He said as a Catholic institution, pupils are required to have good morals.
 
The PTA chairperson wondered where pupils got money to charge the phones and buy airtime.
 
Mr Haworu urged parents to guide their children against the possession of mobile phones.
 
He said some pupils hid the handsets in small pockets on silent mode and others set it on vibration to conceal from parents and teachers.
 
Mr Haworu said the school authority will confiscate any phone found in possession of pupils in its premises.
 
He says there will be regular checking pupils to stop use of mobile phones at the school.
