The coordinators of the Catholic Radio Network urged the Bishops’ Conference of both Sudans to establish a radio authority in their next assembly.

Outgoing CRN director Paola Moggi requested the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference or SCBC to establish a church radio authority to deal with government interference in CRN stations.

She revealed a bitter experience of government security objecting about nation building programmes.

Sr Paola remarked that CRN intended to improve governance through reconciliation, healing and accountability reports, but not to damage reputations as some misinterpreted.

New CRN Director Enrica Valentini said her first priorities would be improving broadcasting in local languages, civic education, reconciliation and other spiritual and practical ways of living.

CRN outgoing and incoming directors made their statements at the closure of the four-day annual meeting of directors from nine CRN stations on Friday evening in Juba.
