Juba City Council reopens second session

Juba City Legislative Council on Wednesday reopened its second session after a long recess.
 
The Council welcomed the new Mayor and his two deputies and the it will come up with guidelines that regulate activities, Bakhita Radio reported. 
 
The Council chairperson Michael Lodu Allahjabu told the press in Juba that they will introduce the Mayor and his deputies to the new system.
 
He said the new body would also be introduced to the Local Government Act 2009 to avoid administrative mess up.
 
Mr Allahjabu added that they would also advice the new body to implement the 265 by-laws of the council.
 
The new Juba Mayor Christopher Sarafino Wani Swaka appreciated the Legislative Council for enacting laws that regulate its activities.
 
He pledged to ensure that effective services are delivered to the people despite challenges.
 
Mr Wani added that his administration would work closely with the people to educate them on City Council roles.
 
Juba City Legislative Council composed of 35 councillors nominated from Juba, Kator and Munuki Quarter Councils.
 
The house established four technical specialized committees including Legislation and Legal Affairs, Finance and Economic Development, Public Affairs and Social and Cultural Affairs.
