Malaria cases rise in Nuba Mountains

Nurses reported increasing cases of malaria infections in Nuba Mountains.
 
A nurse in the female ward Kucha Paulino said they admit between 15 to 16 patients everyday with malaria, pneumonia, tuberculosis and liver cirrhosis, Voice of Peace reported.
 
She clarified that majority of patients suffer from malaria.
 
Ms Paulino explained that they are treating malaria patients with quinine because the other drugs proved not helpful.
 
She said the patients respond positively to quinine treatment. 
 
Male ward nurse said they admit 38 patients weekly and that 75 percent was malaria cases.
 
He urged the community to rush their sick people to hospital or health centres for quick recovery.
 
The maternity ward nurse said 85 percent of the cases were miscarriages blamed on malaria.
 
The children ward nurse reported that they admit 110 children every week mostly suffering from malnutrition, pneumonia and malaria as the leading disease.
