A group of individuals in the Nuba Mountains, South Kordofan ‘calling itself the Real Stakeholders’, defected from the SPLA-N and joined the government of Sudan.
A reliable source said the defected group entered into negotiations with the government aiming at bringing peace to Nuba Mountains.
The group leader Abdelgadir Firga confirmed to the press that they already engaged in talks with the Sudanese government to sign a peace treaty to end the bloodshed in South Kordofan through dialogue.
He appealed to the government of South Sudan to play a positive role in the peace process in South Kordofan.
Mr Firga called on the international community to intervene and support the peace process in the Nuba Mountains.
SPLM-N Spokesman Arnu Ngtulu Lodi described the dissidents as ‘a group of all positions.’
He said the group does not have any influence on the ground.
Mr Lodi explained that the same group earlier attempted to join Justice and Equality Movement but was rejected.
