Maridi Members of Parliament expressed disappointment to the Western Equatoria State Governor for terming them rubbish.

Bangasi Joseph Bakasoro insulted the Mps when they rejected creation of a new payam in Manguo area.

Maridi Council of state MP Isaac Sumu told the press on Wednesday that the Governor did not give Maridi people a chance to express their ideas in the meeting but subjugated and insulted politicians and intellectuals before their citizens.

He explained that the Governor’s insults angered MPs because they did not expect him to insult its people.

Mr Sumu said the matter caused tensions among the people in Maridi County.

Mr Sumu said the creation of a payam in Manguo did not come from Maridi people but was imposed by individuals for political and cultural interests.

He said Maridi citizens rejected the idea because it was cooked by authorities in Yambio.

Another MP in the National Legislative Assembly Peter Bashir Gbandi said the governor was violating laws of the land by creating a payam without people’s consent.

He quoted the President as saying no creation of new administrative units due to lack of resources.
