Two SPLA escape arrest over ivory trade

Two SPLA wounded heroes escaped arrest with elephant tusks  at Kalachar in Kapoeta East County of Eastern Equatoria state.
 
State Minister of Local Government, Law Enforcement and Wildlife Conservation Charles Ambrose Lokonoi told the press that two traders from SPLM General Headquarters, Department of Wounded Heroes in Juba were arrested with two elephant tusks but they escaped, Emmanuel Radio reported.
 
He said Wildlife forces are searching for them. 
 
Minister Lokonoi explained that poachers killed an elephant from Naita Game Reserve and sold its ivory to the two traders.
 
He said he deployed the Director-General of the ministry and other officers to the scene of the recovered elephant tusk.
 
Minister Lokonoi could not disclose the identities of the suspected ivory traders because it endangers investigation.
 
The two elephant tusks were estimated to be over 100 kilograms.
